At what age should young children start meditation?
My 5 year old already recites moolmantar.
First understand what is meditation Meditation is simran and simran is chatte karna or to remember the oneness 24by 7 That means we have to abide with the virtues 24by 7 Si how do we do it by performing daily actions with the essence of virtues Eg helping, caring, loving forgiving ,thanking ,accepting situations, no blaming no judgment and many more The mool mantar consist of all the virtues of the oneness So not only reciting but also let the children bring it into practice as early as possible
according to gurbani mother of the child should make this effort while carrying in womb
A child should not be forced or pressured to do path or remembering . Their time is to play with toys and friends. We should take softer approach and expose them to SIKHI way of life. They can learn watching parents practice SIKHI at home. Worst is to force a child.
The purpose is to study and follow Gurbani. This process can be initiated right from the birth. Initially it can be for few words or sentences of Gurbani. Slowly this can be increased depending on the response and taste of the child.
Initially the child will listen and recite only. The process of teachings can also be added slowly.
Understanding is important and not the ritual meditation, which is being propagated these days.
Simran, Yaad Karna and Chete Karna have same meanings.
