My question is many families keep SGGS at home.
But proper care and respect isn’t always given.
Should people keep SGGS at their residence?
GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI KEPT AT HOME.

Thank you for asking such an important question;
The purpose of keeping Guru Granth Sahib to read from it on regular basis (daily) and adopt the message in one’s life.
Keeping Guru Granth Sahib at home makes is convenient to read on regular basis..
Please remember Gurbani quote:
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥(ਮ:੧, ਪੰ:੨੨੩)
The service to the Guru is to read and understand the message.
As per Gurbani, as long as one is reading from SGGS and learning from it one is doing the Gur Ki SEVA.
Now, if one is not going to read from it on regular basis there is no reason to keep Gur Granth Sahib at home.
Please be careful to not define Gur Ki Seva, anything else other than what is written in Gurbani.
Guru Granth Sahib should be kept only if we r reading regular May be little at a time but understand and then practising Not for just doing Prakash in the morning and sukhasan in the evening thinking that guru is there protecting us and the house as most people do
