Our Story

The founder of Sikh Wisdom, Amrit Pal Singh Sachdeva was born in 1977 and raised in Chandigarh, India. He graduated from Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Amrit Pal Singh arrived in the UK in 2001 and has since been living here with his family.

He has 18+ years experience in management consulting and is currently running several businesses and has always wanted to serve his community. During the period of lockdown in 2020-2021, he uncovered a crucial community need that was not being served as yet. His daughter asked a question regarding Sikhism that he could not answer. That is how he got the idea of creating the platform, Sikh Wisdom. This platform allows Gurbani based answers to be shared with anyone who is looking to learn and expand their knowledge on Sikhism.

Amrit Pal’s parents always taught him to serve the community and by creating the Sikh Wisdom platform, Amrit Pal is not only providing a great service to the community, but a platform designed to flourish Sikhi by educating masses.

Amrit Pal thanks his family for their support and encouraging him to build this platform and is thankful to the developers and technical team for their help in creating this platform. With their support and hard work, everything was ready just within a few months.

Soon after Sikh Wisdom was launched, S. Gulbarg Singh Basi of Global Sikh Council (GSC) joined the effort. Ever since they have been working together to help spread the message of the Bani enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, whereby a team of Sikh Scholars from Global Sikh Council (GSC) are providing Gurbani based answers to questions for our users.

In a very short period of time, over a 1000 questions have already been answered by GSC Sikh Scholars and other Sikh Wisdom users. The platform has also had a great response to various other features such as our Perspectives section and Principles of Sikhism section where users can read about different topics within Sikhi. We have created a Kids Zone page where users aged below 16 can learn more about Sikhi and Sikh History through questions and answers given.

Our users are from diverse backgrounds and from over 20 countries such as Panama and Mexico, where English is not even their first language. These countries are using the Language translators available on the Sikh Wisdom website. There are also users learning Panjabi and Gurbani from our Scholars.

Amrit Pal is grateful to everybody for using this platform, sharing it with their family and friends and, for the amazing feedback from users, sharing new ideas on how Sikh Wisdom can further and develop its success in helping everyone, especially the Sikh community. He would also like to thank the Sikh Scholars for taking on the responsibility of answering users’ questions based on the Bani enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, as the success of Sikh Wisdom would not be the same without them. Sikh Wisdom wants to continue to teach users more about the message of the Bani enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Amrit Pal hopes you will accept his humble request and continue to spread the word so more people can benefit from the service. The platform is available on all devices at sikhwisdom.org or you can download the Sikh Wisdom app on both Android and IOS devices. If you have any suggestions about how the platform can improve in helping users enhance their understanding of Sikhi, email the Sikh Wisdom team at: [email protected].
