Respected Hanna Maria;
Very good question. Thanks for asking. Hope you can visit a close by Gurduara some day.
The Gurduara you seem to mention is a Sikhi spiritual Center. For a Sikh, the objective of Going to Gurduara is to learn the message of Guru Granth Sahib and have some opportunity to practice it as well.
1) Learning: Normal activities are, listening to reading from the Sikhi scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, listening to the singing of some verse from Sri Guru Granth Sahib, and listening to someone sharing their view of the message of Sri Guru Granth Sahib on some subject. The session concludes with a prayer (ARDAAS). Usually there is a Sunday School to share the message with the young ones.
2) Opportunity to practice the message: The main purpose is to be of help to the community. Providing LANGER (a free meal) to all those (anyone) who come to Gurduara. In addition, most places, a free medical Doctor’s consultation and other such services, a free night or two stay for a traveler, even clothing or some financial help for the needy etc.
It all depends upon the location and needs of the local community. During Covid 19 pandemic, Sikhs provided all kinds of free help, medicine , Oxygen Cylinders etc.
Hope this answers your question.
Very well explained.????
