In response to your question, as understood by the undersigned, the word Waheguru is combination of two words ‘Wahe (ਵਾਹਿ), which means Akalpurakh/Parmatma, who deserves praise/admiration/laudation/compliment and ‘Guru (ਗੁਰੂ)’, which means Akalpurakh/Parmatma, who is kind to impart knowledge, in darkness of ignorance.
Here the undersigned will like to add that in Sikhism, Akalpurakh and Guru are embodiment of each other.
Therefore, repeating the word Waheguru in meditation or prayer means remembering Akalpurakh/Guru.
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
In my perspective, it is a constant reminder to our mind about the virtues of our creator.
Bajwaji I only want to add that WAHEGURU is not for chanting or repetition like HINDU mantras. Waheguru is the SHABAD to be realized, becoming. Repetition or chanting a word is not approved in spirituality of GURU NANAK. Yes remembering divine wisdom, divine virtues all the time is useful.
