NINDYA AND CHUGLI KARNA

Bani KAUR
Bani KAUR

As humans we have all most likely done nindya or chugli of someton else.
Even though we know this isn’t right.
Some people do this on a daily basis.
What does Guru Granth Sahib teach us about this?

Though doing Ninda is bad, but in Gurmat Ninda helps in introspection as per Shabd
AGGS 339
Nindo Nindo Mo Ko Log Nindo || Ninda Jann Ko Khari Piari || Ninda Bap Ninda Mehatari ||1|| Rehao ||
Ninda Hoe T Baikunth Jayiae || Naam Padarath Maneh Basayai || Ridhai Sudh Jo Ninda Hoe || Hamare Kapare Nindak Dhoe ||1||
Ninda Karai S Hamra Meet || Nindak Mah Hamra Cheet || Nindak So Jo Ninda Horai || Hamra Jeevan Nindak Lorai ||2||
Ninda Hamree Prem Piyar || Ninda Hamra Karai Odhar || Jann Kabir Ko Ninda Sar || Nindak Dooba Ham Otare Par ||3||20||71||
People may slander and do defamatory propaganda, but it is genuinely unblemished pleasing desirable to the devotees of the God, because slander is their mother and father. As parents love good virtues developing in their children, same way slander helps in exposing the faults and developing good virtues. If I am slandered, I go to heaven, because only then I will get rid of my faults and develop Virtues of the God in my mind (Mann) and live a peaceful life. That way slanderer helped me wash my faults and my mind (Mann) is purified. Slanderer is my friend and is always in my thoughts, because I listen to my slanders very carefully. In fact that person harbours ill will which prevents my faults being exposed. On the other hand slanderer wishes me truthful life. As I am slandered, I develop love and affection for the Virtues of the God. That way slanderer helps me get liberated of my faults. So for devotee Kabir, exposure of his faults is the most desirable thing. But the slanderer is drowned in faults slanderer has been exposing of others, while we improve ourselves because of the warnings and exposure of our faults.

Its a bad habit with some people like a Manmukh. Gurbani rejected Ninda in strong words. There are MANY Shabds in Gurbani. Here are a few

MUKH NINDA AAKHA DIN RAAT II ANK 24

MERAI MUN TAJ NINDA HOUMAI AHANKAAR II ANK 29-30

PER NINDA KAREI AANTER MAL LAEI II ANK 88

USTAT NINDAI DOU TIAGEI KHOJAI PAD NIRBANA II ANK 218

In the following Shabd, Bhagat Kabir Ji is saying:

NINDAU NINDAU MOKOU LOAG NINDAU II ANK 339
      In the last two lines:
JAN KABIR KAU NINDA SAAR II
NINDK DOOBA HAM AUTREI PAAR II
