What is the reason behind this?
Has it got links to any of our Guru?

The NAGARA is/was a tool to make an announcement. Most Kings of that time used NAGARA.
In Guru Sahib’s time, NAGARA was used to announce the arrival of Guru Sahibs, start of the travel of Guru Sahib, March of the Sikh Army, after the victory of Sikh army in the field, and such other events/occasions.
From what little I know, the use of NAGARA started with Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji when he initially organized a Sikh Army, and it is continued to date.
Nihang Singhs have Nagara leading their parade at all occasion.
