      Kalyug in Gurmat is state of mind. Metaphorically, the four Yugs symbolize the mentality and nature (Spirituality) of the person. There is no effect of Yug on the world. It is the nature and mentality (Spirituality) of the person which changes the Yug for that person, which can change many times a day. In whatever illusory Yug one is, the only way for blissful state, the celestial peace is to get spiritual knowledge and wisdom from the True Guru, adopt and assimilate God’s Virtues in the mind (Mann).
AGGS 470
      Nanak Mer Sarir Ka Ek Rath Ek Rathvah || Jug Jug Fer Vataiah Giyani Bujheh Tahi ||
      Satyug Rath Santokh Ka Dharam Agai Rathvahu || Tretai Rath Jatai Ka Jor Agai Rathvahu ||
      Dwapar Rath Tapai Ka Sat Agai Rathvahu || Kalyug Rath Agan Ka Koorr Agai Rathvahu ||1||
      Nanak says life is a long journey in which human being is traveller. Everyone according to their wisdom chooses a chariot and charioteer (guide) how to travel the life journey. With passage of time their nature and mentality changes along with goal in life which changes the chariot and charioteer (guide) as well. When once mentality is in the Golden Age of Sat Yug, contentment is the chariot and righteousness is the charioteer. In the Silver Age of Treta Yug, the aim of life is chivalry so celibacy is the chariot and vitality the charioteer. In the Brass Age of Dwapar Yug, the aim of life is high morality so penance is the chariot and virtue the charioteer. In the Iron Age of Kal Yug, the aim of life is cheating and swindling, worldly desire is the chariot and falsehood the charioteer. Guru Nanak is clarifying that there is no effect of Yug on the world. It is the nature and mentality of the person which changes the Yug for that person, which can change many times a day.

      This answer was edited.

      Firstly, It can be clearly interpreted from the following Shabad that the word “Jug” means era/age, not the state of mind as interpreted by some intellectuals.
      The second thing is Jugas have their own qualities, lifestyle and have their own ways of spiritual/religious practices. Please read the following excerpts:
      Also, as per following shabad
      Satjug have 4 legs
      Treta have 3 legs
      Dwapar have 2 Legs
      Kaliyuga is having only1 Leg
