Respected Brother/Sister,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In response to your question the undersigned wants to bring to your kind notice that when for over two hundred years, the Sikhs were not able to take care of the Gurdwaras, the same were cared for by Mahants, who were under strong brahminical influence, with the result that all kind of Hindu rituals and Karamkands, to which Gurbani doesn’t subscribe to, entered the Gurdwaras. Moreover, over a period of time, the Mahants became corrupt and started considering the Gurdwaras their personal property. To get rid of all these evil influences, Gurdwara Parbandh Sudhar Lehar, which was part of Singh Sabha Movement, came into existence and the Gurdwaras were got liberated, for which Sikhs had to pay a heavy price. Please read the entire history of Gurdwara Parbandh Sudhar Lehar, by downloading the book, by clicking on the link below:-

The Gurdwaras set up thereafter were named as Singh Sabha Gurdwaras. If you have any further questions, please do ask.
Regards,
Your Brother
