Sikhs are not supposed to chant anything or any word.
They are supposed to listen, understand and follow Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib.

      ਗਾਵੀਐ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਭਾਉ ॥ Jap – 2

NO, because we don’t worship humans, super-humans, or deities.
Just one God, the qualities of God are as per mool mantra.
Saying Waheguru , we just glorify Guru.
Guru in Wahguru is not Guru Nanak, or Gobind or Guru Granth.
Guru is God himself, the Akal Purakh.
Another thing is Simran is not the same as chanting. There is a difference.
Chanting you do forcefully (without emotions), consciously, you do it as a task
Simran you do with love (Most important) subconsciously (after some time), and do it as a habit or naturally.

Some of our Sikh brothers and sisters claim that chanting Waheguru is the essence of Sikhi. BUT none of our Gurus have mentioned Waheguru even once in their writings, Only Bhatt Gayandh did mention this word.

The concept of Jup doesn’t mean chanting (rattun), but it is the realization of the Creator within. This begins with understanding the message within the Shabd and realizing in our coscience to become divine virtues

JUP MUN MAREY GOBIND KEE BANI II ANK 192

SACH MANTAR TUMAARA AMRIT BANI II ANK562

SIMAR MUNA RAAM NAAM CHITREY II ANK 803

GUN GOBIND NAAM DHUN BANI II ANK 296

BANI GURU GURU HAI BANI WHICH BANI AMRIT SAAREY ii

GURMUKH BANI NAAM HAI NAAM RIDEY VSAEE II ANK 1239

Please read, listen, sing, understand and live life according to Gurbani. Realization will bring virtues within. Happiness, Peace, Charhdi Kala and Bliss will be on our way !

In SGGS, Why Naam has been given so much importance?
Waheguru is mentioned in SGGS (which is our guru).
Also what about fateh, WJKK WJKF?
Gurbani is very important, I agree. But we can’t ignore the importance of Naam Simran.
        Simar Manaa, Ram Naam chitarey..
        Naam bina mati sang raliya…
        Nanak naam miilai taan jeevan…
        Naam Japao mere saajan Saina…
Gurbani Gives us direction/ knowledge, Naam Simran is the implementation of gurbani. Its the way we express our Vairaagmai love towards God.
Gurbani we can listen only at available times, but Simran can happen 24×7
        ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਗਲ ਅਵਰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
