      Let me add to. the answers above. Long time back there was extensively watched video that some one who did not know GURBANI, was non SIKH, his cancer was cured by listening to GURBANI for two days. This video created lot of confusion among SIKHS .Listening to GURBANI like this DOES NOT CURE DISEASE. LIKE MANY CHRITIAN PASTORS CLAIM. GURBANI empower me to be positive when faced with serious disease, that positivity help quick recovery. Let me tell real story. Wife of my friend had cancer. They recited GURBANI every day believing she will be cured, but she died. My friend kind of lost faith in God for this. It took some time for him to understand real meaning of GURBANI.

      Dear Anonymous;

      I agree with the earlier answer.
      To add my two bits, a little clarification / qualification might be in order here.
      Gurbani message when lived, provides inner strength. And inner strength gives the body a strong defensive mechanism (immune system) against any diseases.
      There still is room for medicine when one gets sick, but for a Sikhi practicing individual, it is minimized.
