Kara is the constant reminder about the binding to the teachings of Gurbani.
While studying and learning we have to lower our ego.
Hence gold is not recommended as this is for show of wealth, which increases our ego.
Any type of fashion or superstition is not going to help in any manner. We have to study and understand Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib.
