Please note they are not SYMBOLS. they are part of the uniform of the KHALSA.
Please compare it to the uniform of a policeman. The belt, the shoes, communication communications gear, the gun etc. are not called symbol, they part of the Policeman’s uniform. Exactly same way the five items of KHALSA dress are part of uniform and not symbols.
1) KACHH: special short close Bermuda shorts.
2) KARHAA: bracelet,
3) KANGHA, a small comb,
4) KIRPAAN, a sword,
5) KESH or KESKI. Uncut hair or small head covering.
There is difference of opinion on the last one. Some people assert that KESH is part of the body, it is not an article of dress. They claim a small head covering, a small turban, is a part of the dress. Then of course there is DUMALA.
