      There is no reference to taking HUKAM NAMA in Gurbani enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib.

      It is a practice developed by the Sikh community. mainly Bhai Sahibs.

      The objective is to read a message at random so that it is not same page every day. The Bhai Sahib chooses to open Guru Granth Sahib from the middle. But limits Bhai Sahib to choose it from the middle, he can go to the sides or even the ends.

      There in no diffefrence, in importance, between a HUKAM NAMA taken at one place verses another. So HUKAM NAMA taken at home is equaly as important as the one taken at a big famous Gurduara.
