Sat Sri akal ji🙏🙏। I wanna ask….sometimes while doing my work i listen to paath on phone or tv (when i don’t read,and just listen to it),then i don’t usually cover my head aur in public places like when i listen to gurbani and can’t cover my head due to certain reasons… Is this disrespectful?…as one of my friends told me that this is paap…but i think ….when I’m physically handling the gutka ,it is important to cover the head…. ,i can listen to paath without covering my head ….bcz i want to enjoy gurbani and gain the maximum out of it..and don’t want to show everyone that I’m listening to gurbani or else as sometimes friends make fun of it…which i don’t like and i don’t wanna answer them in a wrong way…bcz all i want is to stay connected to rabb and guru’s words….

      There is no hard and fast rule of studying Gurbani. One can study at anytime.
      Guidelines are only for the general public convenience. According to Bhai Gurdas Ji. We should recite Jap Bani in the morning. Sodar (Rehras) and Arti (Sohila) in the evening.
      ਸੋਦਰੁ ਆਰਤੀ ਗਾਵੀਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਾਪੁ ਉਚਾਰਾ। Bhai Gurdaas Ji – 1
      Jap Bani needs more concentration, hence recommended in the morning.
      Sodar is relatively easy so recommended in the evening.
      Sohila is short, hence recommended in the late evening time.
      Purpose is to study understand and follow the Hukam of Akal Purkh, so that one can become Sachyaar.
      Gurmat does not accept any ritual whether it is related to Path or any type of meditation. Main purpose is to recite listen understand and follow Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib.
      ਗਾਵੀਐ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਭਾਉ ॥ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਰਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ Jap – 2
      We should always clean our hands before touching any book. Because cleanliness is very important.
      The purpose of covering our head is also that the dead hairs do not fall in the surrounding. The tuban keeps our head in the normal condition both during the hot and cold climate.

      We need to understand and follow the Hukam of Akal Purkh and try to go in the direction of becoming Sachyaar.
