Do Sikhs believe in miracles.
This question came to my mind after I spoke to My Doctor today and he mentioned about his mother being critical then the power of prayer healed her overnight. As this was mentioned by Doctor it made me think if miracles do occur?

We need to define miracle to answer this question. Miracle is when an event happen in deviation, violation of LAWS OF NATURE, COSMIC LAWS. Example, a dead is resurrected upon prayers or I jump in the air and decide not to come back to ground. In Gurbani it is called ANHONI, impossible to happen. Gurbani completely reject this blind faith. Science has proven that nothing ever happen in violation of COSMIC LAWS. As Sardar Sadhu Singhji mentioned Gurbani says AAP NATH NATHI SABH JAKEE RIDH SIDH AWRA SADH meaning that claim of miracle powers is false belief that takes one on the path of ignorance, away from truth. Gurbani says everything in the universe happen according to COSMIC LAWS. I read that 80% of Americans believe in miracles. They believe that the supernatural external deity can perform miracles. We know that more that one billion people have walked away from religion for the reason that their prayers are not answered. Believe in that external supernatural miracle deity is the one biggest weakness of religions.

Sikhi doesn’t believe in or accept Karamaat. Yog mat believes in magical and supernatural powers called Ridhia and Sidhia.

Aap nath nathi sabh ja kee ridh sidh avra saad II Japuji Sahib Ank 6

Gurmukh asat sidhee sabh budhee II Gurmukh bhavjal triaie sach sudhee II Sidh Gost Ank 941

Guru’s Gian (Shabd) provides complete reality of these powers.

A miracle is an event which cannot be explained by laws of nature or science. In other words any event that causes surprise is a miracle. Miracles are of two types. The first types are a result of Divine action like a child surviving a flood or help arriving when not expected, child prodigies performing amazing feats in fields of education, games or other skills. The only explanation for such occurrences is that God willed it that way. The second types are occurrences which are deliberately shown to be performed by human beings, the so called god-men. This is an attempt to show that miracles are inspired by God. Such an event may be attributed to a supernatural being (especially a deity), magic, a saint, or a religious leader.
Gurmat is based on logic hence no miracles were performed by Guru Nanak and other Gurus.
Bhai Gurdas Vaar 1, Pauri 42
Sidh Bolan Sunn Nanaka Tuh Jag No Kiya Karamat Dikhai || Kujh Vikhalayn Asan No Tuh Kiun Dhil Avayhi Layi ||
Baba Bolay Nath Ji Asan Vekhan Jogi Vsat N Kai || Guru Sangat Bani Bina Duji Ut Nahi Hai Rai ||
Sidhs asked Nanak what miracles you have shown to the world. We have shown you miracles, now you show some to us. Baba replied O respected Nath! I have nothing worth showing to you. I have no support and protection except company of my Guru and the Word (Bani). Guru Nanak rejected performing miracles (Kramat).
AGGS 474
Eh Kinehi Dat Apas Te Jo Payai || Nanak Sa Karamat Sahib Tuthai Jo Milai ||1||
If one says I got something because of my own effort, it then cannot be a blessing of the God. Nanak says the real miracle (Kramat) is receiving the Grace on the pleasure of the God. So the real miracle (Kramat) is Grace of the God.
The real miracle (Kramat) is creation of nine more Gurus by Guru Nanak. Bhagats raising their voice against rituals, hypocrisy, superstitions, caste system and merging with God in spite of being slandered as low caste by high caste Brahmins is the real Kramat. The real miracle (Kramat) is creation of warrior Singhs and Kaurs from ordinary peasants by Guru Gobind Singh through Khande Bate Di Pahul (Amrit). The real miracle (Kramat) is those brave Sikh men and women, who sacrificed their life but did not surrender their Sikh religion; Who got themselves cut to pieces from each of the joints of the body; Who got their scalps removed; Who were tied and rotated on the wheels and broken into pieces; Who were cut by saws; Who were flayed alive; Who sacrificed themselves to upkeep the dignity of the Gurdwaras; Who did not abandon their Sikh faith; Who kept their Sikh Religion and saved their long hair till their last breath. Gurmat rejects any type of supernatural powers. For more info listen to my youtube.
