Respected Brother/Sister,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ki Fateh!
You have stated that you have accidentally eaten beef and how do you get forgiveness?
Please click on the link below and read about Kuraihats at page 30 of the ‘Sikh Rehat Maryada’:-
https://sgpc.net/?page_id=653
You may observe that there is no mention that eating beef is a Kuraihat for a Sikh.
Further, on 30th October, 2022, Veer Harmanpreet Singh had asked a question ‘Is eating meat allowed to Amritdhaari Sikhs’. The question was answered quite in detail on 31st October, 2022. Please have a look on the reply. The reply answers your question also. You may observe that eating meat has no relationship whatsoever with the religion. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
Regards,
Your Brother
As far as my knowledge goes and please correct me if im wrong; beef or pork has no relevance to Sikhs. Beef is observed by Hindus and Pork by muslims.
However, if we eat meat, it should be chatka meat. Any other meat prepared in a ritualistic manner such as halal or kosher is forbidden.
Dear Sister, the word ‘Jhatka’ can not be found anywhere neither in Guru Granth Sahib nor in ‘Rehat Maryada’. The ‘Rehat Maryada’ prohibits ‘pork’ for Sikhs but Guru Granth Sahib teaches us that eating meat or not eating meat has nothing to do with Sikhi. Please be kind to read the detailed reply to the question asked by Veer Harmanpreet Singh on 30th October, 2022.
Thank you for your knowledge.
I will certainly read your link.
I have read any meat prepared in a ritual manner is forbidden.
i will certainly seek clarification – thanks for this discussion brother.
You are most welcome, dear Sister! We have to see what Guru Sahib is teaching us because human beings can make mistakes but Guru Sahib and Akalpurakh can’t. Gurbani teaches us ‘ਭੁਲਣ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ’।।
Regards,
Your Brother
Hi Brother, been reading many sources/materials and speaking to people. Not read anything about pork being forbidden, more leaning towards ritualistic meats such as halal, kosher etc.
Dear Sister, whatever you have quoted is based on ‘Sikh Rehat Maryada’. As already stated the word ‘Jhatka’does not appear either in Rehat Maryada’or in Guru Granth Sahib. The ‘Sikh Rehat Maryada’ was prepared by human beings and there was no unanimity on the issue of eating meat. Whatever definitions of Jkatka you have quoted are man made. Have you read the reply given to Veer Harmanpreet Singh on 31stOctober? That was based on what Guru Granth Sahib teaches us. The undersigned is of the opinion that we should go by what Guru Sahib teach us. We can continue the discussion after you have the reply already given.
Regards,
Your Brother
