I strongly believe it is a waste of money to do fireworks. Instead, everyone should give to charity. How does that sound?

      Respected Sukh Kaur Ji;

      Thanks you for sharing your view. You are right on the mark.
      Gurbani message is:
      ਅਕਲੀ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਅਕਲੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ ਅਕਲੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਿ ਕੈ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਅਕਲੀ ਕੀਚੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
      akalī sāhib sēvīai akalī pāīai mān . akalī parh kai bujhīai akalī kīchai dān .

      The Gurbani verse, above teaches the use of common sense in all aspects of life.
      The commonsense service to Guru is listening to and adopting to Guru’s advise.
      Common sense in charitable contributions is to give to those where it has maximum benefit to the society and not wasted on the show offs and wasteful spending specially polluting the environment.

      As long as the management of these wasteful institutions have money donated to them, they will continue to waste. The solution is to make the contribution to the organizations that provide maximum benefit to the society. Everyone has a choice, KHALSA AID in one, Global Sikh Economic Forum is another and there are many more.

      Yes, you are very right. Fireworks cause air pollution as well as sound pollution. It is a good idea to give the money in charity to someone who is in real need. There are many unfortunate people in this world who lack food and a roof.

      Guru Sahib clearly advises us to first thoroughly identify and analyse and then only take some step.

      ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਸਤੁ ਸਿਞਾਣਿ ਕੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੀਚੈ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥ – 1410

      All these fireworks and candle lighting are causing lot of pollution and is a waste of money.
      Those who encourage such acts and contribute money for them, are all responsible for this wrong doings.
      Better to stop donating to such organisations and start helping the needy people directly for their education and upliftment.
