Respected Sister Simmi Singh ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In response to your question, the undersigned wants you to kindly look around and see if you can find a personality in the world history, which can match the personality of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. During a short span of worldly life of forty years, with Akalpurakh’s blessings, he prepared such a force out of downtrodden people, which had the courage to fight the tyranny of mighty Mughals, headed by Aurangzeb. One poet has rightly said that:-
The process of uprooting the well entrenched Mughal empire, initiated by him was carried forward by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur (A Sikh of seven and a half years), who sacrificed his life in June, 1716 in Delhi along with 700 Sikhs, none of whom agreed to leave Sikhi.
Thereafter, the homes of Sikhs were on horses till 1801 (For almost 85 years), when Ranjit Singh became Maharaja of Punjab. The period between 1716 and 1801 was the most difficult period in the Sikh history because all kinds of atrocities had to be faced by the Sikhs and their families at the hands of Mughals but they remained steadfast since they had before them the sacrifices of Guru Arjun Sahib, Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib, Mata Gujri ji, Four Sahibzadas, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib and numerous Sikhs. However, by end of this period, once mighty Mughal empire was more or less uprooted.
The problem now is that we, who call ourselves Sikhs, have forgotten this legacy and are ready to leave Sikhi for small small material gains. Where we will finally land is a worrisome question?
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If there are any shortcomings please do point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
Grateful
He created the khalsa ( pure), a community of the faithful who wore visible symbols of their faith and trained as worriors
