Bani or Gurbani is collection of Shabads of Guru Sahiban, Bhagats and others. The significance of Gurbani included in Guru Granth Sahib is that when we bow our head before our ever living Guru, we bow our heads before those Bhagats, who were treated as downcastes in the Hindu caste system and the so called upper castes were not ready to go near them. They were given the status of Guru in Guru Granth Sahib.

GURU says SHABAD IS GURU, BANI IS GURU. There is no difference. What is written in the text of SGGSJI is SHABAD. BANI.
