As per Gurbani:
ਧਨ ਪਿਰੁ ਏਹਿ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਨਿ ਬਹਨਿ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਇ ॥
ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੁਇ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਧਨ ਪਿਰੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥ (ਮ:੩, ਪੰ:੭੮੮)
THe spirit of the message is: Just going throught the ceremoney does not make a couple husband and wife,
only thoise can be called husband and wife who have one spirit / thought in two bodies.
Forcing anyone into a marriage as per Gurbani can not be called a marriage.
