The simple answer is that SGGSJI contains WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE that is the only source of peace, happiness and bliss of life.

ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਰੇ ॥ਗੁਰੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਕਹੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਪਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੫॥ AGGS 982
Bani Guru Guru Hai Bani Vich Bani Amrit Sare || Gur Bani Kehai Sevak Jann Manai Partakh Guru Nistare ||5||
The Word (Bani) is Guru, and Guru is the Bani. Within the Bani, the Ambrosial Nectar (Virtues) is contained. If God’s humble servant believes, and acts according to the teachings of the Guru’s Bani, then Guru emancipates him.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ AGGS 515
Wah Wah Bani Nirankar Hai Tis Jevadd Avar N Koe ||
Waho! The Word (Bani) is the Formless God.
