Respected Yashdeep Ji;
Thank you so much for asking this question. Surely a lot of other readers have the same question,
Amrit Chhakna as it is now understood among Sikhi Community is described in Sikh Rehat Maryada, and is considered as one’s commitment to Sikhi Principles.
As per Gurbani, AMRIT is Guru’s message (GURBANI) and not water.
(m:3, p:1056)
Guru’s SABD (word) AMRIT is BANI
The AMRIT BANI of Guru is sweet.
Now taking AMRIT of Bani is important for a Sikh as it guides the Sikh on the right path.
Thanks for the answer
According to Gurmat Amrit is Naam of Akal Purkh with which all sorts of desires can be fulfilled. Hence it is very important for everyone to enjoy the taste of Amrit with the help of Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib.
Normally people confuse Amrit with Khande Ke Pahul. Khande Ke Pahul is the commitment with the Guru to follow his teachings. If we are not committed how we will achieve our goal.
