My friend practices idol worship of Hindu Gods and also worships pictures of Sikh Gurus with diyas and agarbattis. How can I persuade her to reconsider her approach, as she is quite adamant about her style of worship?

Respected Preet ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In response to your question, the undersigned wants to draw your attention to the following stanza, from the Shabad of Bhagat Namdev ji, at Panna 525 of Guru Granth Sahib, in which he is guiding us that you make one stone as your deity and love him whereas on another stone you put your feet. If that stone is a deity then this stone is also a deity. Finally, he is concluding that he is not ready to worship any stone deity, rather he worships Akalpurakh/Parmatma:-
ਏਕੈ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀਜੈ ਭਾਉ ॥ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਾਥਰ ਧਰੀਐ ਪਾਉ ॥ ਜੇ ਓਹੁ ਦੇਉ ਤ ਓਹੁ ਭੀ ਦੇਵਾ ॥ ਕਹਿ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 525}
Further, at Panna 556 of Guru Person, Guru Nanak Sahib is guiding us that the Hindus, under the influence of Narad, are totally on the wrong path and are worshipping stone idols. The Guru questions that if the idols themselves will drown in water then how they will carry you across the worldly sea:-
ਮਃ ੧ ॥ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੂਲੇ ਭੂਲੇ ਅਖੁਟੀ ਜਾਂਹੀ ॥ ਨਾਰਦਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਂਹੀ ॥ ਅੰਧੇ ਗੁੰਗੇ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥ ਪਾਥਰੁ ਲੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ ਓਹਿ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਤੁਮ ਕਹਾ ਤਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 556}
Still further, the Fifth Guru Person, Guru Arjun Sahib is guiding, at Panna 1160 of Guru Granth Sahib, that worshipping the stone idols is nothing but waste of time because the stone can’t give you anything:-
At the end, the undersigned is quoting two Pangtis of the Shabad of Fifth Guru Person, Guru Arjun Sahib, at Panna 864 of Guru Granth Sahib, which make it absolutely clear that Guru ka Shabad is Guru ki Moorti (Idol) in Sikhism and there is no place for worship of images and statues in Sikhism:-
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you have any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
