Why does the Gurdwara charge Money for akaand path or Sukhmani Sahib path?
Thank you for asking this very important question.
There is no direct answer to your question in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
In fact, in directly Gurbani is against charging for religious activities.
The Managements has expenses and they must recoup them. One way is to get voluntary contributions and another is to charge for service. That is the reason there is a charge.
You might ask another question: What is benefit to the host family for having someone else read they Gurbani when the host family hardly has opportunity to listen to it? Even if they are able listen a little bit, can they really learn anything from Gurbani being read at such a fast speed? And hence the Akhand Path, has hardly any value to the host family or anyone else other than Bhai Sahibs and the Management.
