I have heard that some sikhs do meditation. So this seems a good place to ask my (slightly bizarre) question. I have searched for answers high and low but can’t find much to answer my question. So that’s why I am asking on this website.
I sometimes on occasion meditate but I lately appear to meditate at random (at school or while eating is a problem) and sometimes unintentionally. I’m not sure if meditation can be done on accident.
I become detached from reality (which is the goal of meditation) and my fingers become cold. I become detached a little too well for not having much practice.
I become suddenly dizzy before these experiences and sometimes in a daze after them. Is this a part of meditation?
My question: Is this how meditation is supposed to work? Am I doing it wrong? If so could someone give me some advice on how to correctly meditate?
Somebody I know is concerned that it could be something really wrong and wants me to go to a doctor but I want to make sure it’s not a spiritual experience. I don’t want to get rid of a spiritual experience but I also don’t want to get hurt if it’s not really meditation.
but it’s not cup of tea
What does that mean? Sounds like a British saying that I assume means that it’s not easy to do.
As understood by the undersigned, Meditation is a personal experience, as a result of which a person experiences spiritual equipoise and spiritual bliss. Unable to say anything more.
Thank you for the information.
From what I hear then I’m not meditating. Because it’s definitely not peaceful.
Changing life for the better, getting rid of vices, becoming a righteous/virtuous person, remaining one with Almighty helps you to achieve spiritual equipoise and spiritual bliss. In Sikhism, the final goal is to achieve spiritual emancipation/salvation (enlightenment) in this life itself.
Thank you for the information.
I am now certain that I am meditating incorrectly. Now I can try to do it more correctly.
As a Sikh i meditate on SHABAD GURU, BANI GURU, DIVINE WISDOM, GODLY VIRTUES. My goal is to understand wisdom of the GURU and internalize the godly virtues in my daily life. It means meditation is to read, listen to a SHABAD, understand the spiritual message and then practice it in daily living. This is meditation in SIKHI. Rest are all rituals.
Then I am definitely not meditating correctly if I am supposed to read and think about the message.
yes in sikhism

first ,collect self knowledge.second is meditating on that knowledge which is you understanding from gurbaani (sggs).
