How can I respectfully approach Sikh scholars for guidance? I took amrit at a young age, but now, at 18, I feel disconnected. I rushed into it for attention and now want to step back, practice nitnem, and return to amrit with my future husband's support. How do I discuss this with my parents without disappointing them, considering my dad's own history with amrit?

If you read SIKH REHAT MARYADA it clearly says that AMRIT should be taken when one is mature enough to understand its significance. Giving child AMRIT is a mistake that you realize now. . .
ਭੁਲਣ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ਲਾਗਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥੮॥੧੨॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 60-61}
Since every one, except Guru and Akalpurakh, is liable to make mistakes therefore, you should not feel bad about what has happened so far. Please take your parents into confidence respectfully and discuss your plan with them. The undersigned is quite hopeful that they will understand your feelings and respect them.
