I learned about the symbolism of not cutting hair. I find it fascinating. And christians and some muslims have tales of the importance of not cutting hair (such as the story of Samson).
So I decided to try it. Unfortunately it didn’t go very well. I had to cut it because it became unmanageable.
I will try again, but does anyone have any tips, especially for the ladies?
In Sikhism, preserving uncut hair is a significant practice, yet individuals within the community may exhibit varying degrees of commitment to this tradition. Each person follows their unique spiritual journey, and some Sikhs may choose to trim their hair without being excluded from the Sikh community.
Do try again to grow your hair.
oil and wash
use a good hair mask
brush regularly so it doesn’t get tangled.
All the best
So I could become a sikh and still cut my hair? The problem is that I can’t wash my hair by myself. That makes it very difficult to keep my hair reasonably nice (and healthy).
I do like the spiritual significance of not cutting hair.
It’s your personal choice.
Honestly speaking taking care of long hair is not hard at all.
If you have Sikh friends around you please speak to them.
They can help and guide you for sure.
Most Sikhs Keep their hair and do not cut or trim.
All the best of luck.
This website is my only way to contact other sikhs. There are no sikhs in my town and a very few in the biggest city nearby.
Taking care of long hair is not hard unless your arms can’t raise above your head. It makes it rather difficult.
