In olden times Sikhs used to wear many other defence arms/tools in addition to Kirpan. Various restriction imposed by Governments from time to time, this has got reduced to Kirpan only and that also of smaller size.
A Sikh is supposed to follow the teachings of the Guru. But not to imitate the Guru.
No Sikh is debarred from wearing two kirpans. Some boys in the ਖਾਲਸਾਈ bana have been seen wearing two kirpans.
We can also see some Sikhs wearing no kirpan at all.
