We bow before Guru Granth Sahib for lowering our ego and committing to follow the teachings of Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Granth Sahib teaches us that there is no use of bowing, if we are not following the teachings of Gurbani and are just doing the rituals only.

Nishan Sahib is meant for communicating the public that there is a place where one can come for physical and mental guidance and help.
Gurbani does not advise for any such physical practices of bowing before any physical materials or person.
Purpose is to understand the Hukam of the Akal Purkh and try to become Sachyaar (Truthful) person with the help of Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib.
