Are there any specific citations on reincarnation and how the process works in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji?
Great question TruthSikhr Ji
Sikhi does not believe in reincarnation (Ava Gavan) after physical death. Sikhi believes in spiritual death which happens many times a day while we are living. Human mind reincarnates and goes through spiritual births and deaths in this life, not in afterlife.
Sikhi believes in Karma. We will face the consequences of our good and bad deeds in this life.
Lets understand the following Shabds to understand the spiritual reincarnation
AAKHA JEEVA VISRAI MER JAAOO II ANK 9
I am alive living with the virtues of Creator. I die otherwise
AAVAN JANA JAMUN MARNA MANMUKH PAT GVAAEE II ANK 31
The self-minded people who are not living with the virtues of the Creator lose their honor, go through spriritual births and deaths, reincarnate with vices in this life. They can also equire traits of animals.
MER MER JAMEH THAUR NA PAAVEH BIRTHA JANAM GVAAEE II ANK 1130
They reincarnate, have no peace and waste their lives uselessly
BHARM BHARM JONEE PHIR PHIR AAIAA II ANK 1049
Living life with vices will bring spiritual reincarnation again and again
GUR MANTR HEENIS JO PRANEE DHIRGANT JANM BHRASTNEH II ANK 1356
KOOKREH SOOKREH GARDHBHEH KAAKEH SARPNEH TUL KHALEH II
Those who are not living with the teachings of the Guru, their life is hollow. They are living the life of a dog, a pig, a donkey, a crow and a snake
PAWNEI MEH PAWN SMAAIAA II JOYOTI MEH JYOT RAL JAAIAA II ANK 885
After physical death body mixes with natural elements and Joyoti merges with Jyot.
The life force is an energy and energy is never destroyed but can change in other form. This is the Law of nature
Great Answer, veer ji
Sadhu Singh Sat Sri Akal and thank you Ji for your response. To confirm there is no mention of reincarnation in the SGGS Ji? I was informed there is a reincarnation process after death by a Gursikh previously, is he wrong? Can you also expand on the previous points please;
A) AAKHA JEEVA VISRAI MER JAAOO II ANK 9
I am alive living with the virtues of Creator. I die otherwise
^ Does this mean we are only living by the grace of Akal Purak? he is sustaining us and can chose to take us.
B) BHARM BHARM JONEE PHIR PHIR AAIAA II ANK 1049
^ What’s spiritual reincarnation, could you explain this concept please
C) PAWNEI MEH PAWN SMAAIAA II JOYOTI MEH JYOT RAL JAAIAA II ANK 885
^ If there is no physical reincarnation and energy merges with the elements, what is the purpose of worshiping and giving praise to God? If all that happens is a cosmological event. Would you say therefore the teachings of the gurus is for guidance in this life only?
