Respected Veer Amrit Pal Singh ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In response to your question, as understood by the undersigned, the goal of becoming a righteous (āĻļāĻāĻŋāĻāϰ) person was laid down by the First Guru Person, Guru Nanak Sahib, in the first Pauri of Jap Baani itself, when he said:-
āĻāĻŋāĻĩ āĻļāĻāĻŋāĻāϰāĻū āĻđāĐāĻāĻ āĻāĻŋāĻĩ āĻāĐāĐāĐ āĻĪāĐāĻāĐ āĻŠāĻūāĻēāĻŋ āĨĨ āĻđāĐāĻāĻŪāĻŋ āϰāĻāĻūāĻ āĻāĻēāĻĢāĻū āĻĻāĻūāĻĻāĻ āĻēāĻŋāĻāĻŋāĻ āĻĻāĻūāĻēāĻŋ āĨĨāЧāĨĨ
āĻ āϰāĻĨ: (āĻĪāĻūāĻ āĻŦāĻŋāϰ) āĻ āĻāĻūāĻē āĻŠāĐāϰāĻ āĻĶāĻū āĻŠāϰāĻāĻūāĻļāĻž āĻđāĐāĻĢ āĻēāĻ āĻŊāĐāĻ āĻāĻŋāĻĩāĐāĻ āĻŽāĻĢ āĻļāĻāĐāĻĶāĻū āĻđāĐ (āĻ āĻĪāĐ āĻļāĻūāĻĄāĐ āĻ āаāĻĶāϰ āĻĶāĻū) āĻāĐāĐ āĻĶāĻū āĻŠāϰāĻĶāĻū āĻāĻŋāĻĩāĐāĻ āĻāĐāĐąāĻ āĻļāĻāĻĶāĻū āĻđāĐ? āϰāĻāĻžāĻū āĻĶāĐ āĻŪāĻūāĻēāĻ āĻ āĻāĻūāĻē āĻŠāĐāϰāĻ āĻĶāĐ āĻđāĐāĻāĻŪ āĻĩāĻŋāĻ āĻĪāĐāϰāĻĻāĻū-(āĻāĻđāĐ āĻāĻ āĻĩāĻŋāϧāĐ āĻđāĐ) āĨĪ āĻđāĐ āĻĻāĻūāĻĻāĻ! (āĻāĻđ āĻĩāĻŋāϧāĐ) āϧāĐāϰ āĻĪāĐāĻ āĻđāĐ āĻāĻĶ āĻĪāĐāĻ āĻāĻāĻĪ āĻŽāĻĢāĻŋāĻ āĻđāĐ, āĻēāĻŋāĻāĐ āĻāĻēāĐ āĻ āϰāĻđāĐ āĻđāĐāĨĪ1āĨĪ
According to Prof. Sahib Singh, (who had done the vyakhya of entire Guru Granth Sahib), the entire Guru Granth Sahib is explanation of these Pangtis.
In view of the above position, to become a righteous person, is the goal to be achieved by a Sikh in his life, since all other qualities flow from this quality.
Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
