in my view the First, Second and the Fifth Guru Sahiban did not have the word “Dev” attached to their names. Distorting name of any person is not in good taste.

Bhai Lehna was renamed as Angad by Nanak Sahib, and not Angad Dev.

The university raised at Amritsar was first named as Guru Nanak University, but on persistent opposition by the Hindoo public of Amritsar it was changed to Guru Nanak Dev University !
Why don’t Sikhs object to this wrong step?

Word Nanak alone is written in Guru Granth Sahib for thousands of times.
Also if the name given by his parents is Nanak Dev, then his sister’s name should have been Bebe Nanki Devi !?

We have no right to change anyone’s names due to our whims and fancies.

Tenth Master’s initial name given by his parents was Gobind Rai, till it was changed by he himself to Gobind Singh in 1699.

Mohali was named as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar which seemed too long a name for writing on the boards, and request was forwarded to shorten it. Now the administration has changed it to Ajit Garh, whereas it should have been Ajit Singh Garh, because Singh cannot be removed from the name of this Sikh icon.
