What is Langar according to Gurmat
Human life is pleasant, when both the mind and body are healthy. The human being in whose mind the Guru’s Shabad abides, both his mind and body become pure.
When the Gur Shabad resides in the mind of a person, he learns the capability of selecting the right Langar for the body and mind.
Langar of Gur Shabad has been specifically mentioned in Guru Granth Sahib. But there is only indirect mention about the Langar of the body (food), which we are stressing too much now a day.
When the human mind starts following to the teachings of Gurbani then the body automatically starts working according to the Guru’s wisdom, and then his suffering starts reducing automatically.
The initiation of both mind and body Langar was started by Guru Nanak Sahib. With the Langar of the mind (Gur Shabad) we can establish communion with the entire humanity and with the Langar of the body (food) we can eradicate mutual discrimination of high and low.
A jointly prepared Langar is economically cheaper, less labour intensive to prepare, and leftover food is minimized.

Langar is meant for preparing and sharing together in the form of GurSangat. Langar of Gur Shabad has been specifically mentioned in Guru Granth Sahib. But there is only indirect mention about the Langar of the body (food), which we are stressing too much now a day.
Pangati means a line. Hence one can say that Pangat means sitting together in a well coordinated form.
Pangat was started by Guru Sahibs so that the difference of high low and caste system can be eliminated. When we sit together we can share Gurmat with each other. That will automatically reduce the differences among us and we can live in a well coordinated system.
