The head is generally covered by Sikh woman to protect their Kesh from dust etc. and in Gurdwara Sahib as a matter of respect to Guru Granth Sahib. Therefore, outside Gurdwara Sahib, it is a matter of choice. However, it is a known fact that woman, who wear Dastar as part of their dress, draw lot of respect from one and all.
In the modern world putting unnecessary restrictions make the youth turn away from SIKHI. Yes in the presence of SGGSJI, doing path, one must cover head. Otherwise totally person choice.
