Respected Tavleen Kaur Ji;
Thank you for asking this question. There are many people in the Sikh community who interpret is differently than it is meant to be;
Firstly, this verse is not in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
It hard to say if it is authentic or not.
It is attributed to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. (Once again, the authenticity is in question)
Regardless, the message behind of verse is depends upon the meaning assigned to the two words “REHAT” and “SIKH”
“REHAT”. As per Guru Granth Sahib ji, is the way of life, the way that one lives their life. (It certainly is not the dress code or the code defined by SGPC which conflicts with the message of SGGS at places).
A “SIKH” in SGGS is defined to be one that believes in Gurbani and lives his life accordingly.
With that being said, the verse seems to be an oxymoron. A self-contradictory statement.
Hope this helps.
