According to guru granth sahib husband is soul and wife is body. When soul leave body that means that body doesn’t have value. That means when a husband give divorce to his wife that means those wife doesn’t have value. Now I understand that why sikh people don’t like divorced or widow women Why sikh hates divorced and window women or not want to marry a divorced or widow women. "Sikh man don't want to marry divorced women" BBC says. Hinduism also not allows widow marriage. Widow marriage called in Bengali "Bidhoba bie kalangka". I think this is why Hindus and Sikhs treat widows and divorced women so inhumanely. Can’t treat them well. Religion is responsible for this. According to Hindu scriptures, widows do not eat good food, eat salt and rice and always wear white clothes. Sikhism is no exception. Break my logic by authentic reference if you can.

Respected Brother,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
The undersigned is of the opinion that you are misinterpreting the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Sahib is giving an analogy of husband and wife to give a spiritual message. The message is that beautify your mind and soul instead of just beautifying your body.
First of all please try to understand that just having an appearance doesn’t make a person a Sikh. In addition to the appearance, The person need to have imbibed teachings of Guru Granth Sahib to become a Sikh.
As understood by the undersigned, as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib, s Sikh” is a “Seeker of Truth” and “Sikhism” stands for:-
(i) Oneness of Humanity;
(ii) No discrimination owing to gender, race, caste, creed, or color;
(iii) No empty rituals & worthless religious practices;
(iv) No life after death theories. Rather, it stands for spiritual salvation/emancipation, during the life time on getting rid of vices.
Further, Sikhism:-
(i) teaches a Sikh to live his life in the present, as per Hukam of Akalpurakh and teachings of ever living Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib;
(ii) expects a Sikh to earn an honest living, remain connected with Akalpurakh all the time and share his honest earning with poor and needy;
(iii) expects a Sikh to be compassionate, kind, tolerant and is to love all i e. he is to reach the mental state of seeing Akalpurakh in everyone and hence having friends only and no enemies;
(iv) expects a Sikh to serve the humanity, without any distinction of caste, creed and religion.
Guru Granth Sahib teaches a person/Sikh to get rid of vices, become a righteous/virtuous person. The goal of becoming a righteous/virtuous person was laid down by the First Guru Person Guru Nanak Sahib, in the first Pauri of Jap Baani itself, when he said:-
Kiv Sachiara hoiey, Kiv Kude Tute Pal; Hukam Rajai Chalna, Nanak likhya Naal.
Once a person/Sikh achieves the goal of becoming a righteous/ virtuous person and becomes one with Akalpurakh and Shabad Guru, who are spiritually embodiment of each other, he will live a disciplined life and achieve the stage of spiritual equipoise and spiritual bliss. The final goal is to achieve emancipation/salvation in this life itself since there is no concept of salvation/ emancipation, after death in Sikhism.
Imbibing the above teachings, of Guru Granth Sahib, is what is called Sikhi.
The undersigned has no comments on the veracity of the report, cited by you but is of a firm conviction that those indulging in child abuse or in violence against women can’t be called Sikhs since they haven’t imbibed the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib.
Please understand that in Sikhism, Akalpurakh is Hukam Roop (Divine Law) and the Shabad Guru is Updesh Roop (Advises). The Divine Law has to be accepted by all but advice may or may not be accepted by all.
Therefore, you can’t draw conclusions that Sikh men are not ready to marry widow or divorced Sikh women. In actual life, in undersigned’s opinion, what you are saying is far away from truth because marriages of widows and divorcees are taking place. There may be exceptional cases in which problems may be there for certain reasons.
There can be problematic men or problematic women but no general conclusions can be drawn and he entire community can’t be labelled, like you are trying to label.
Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If there are any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
Respected Brother,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
Further, to what the undersigned has already said, let us see who is a Sikh as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib:-
ਮਃ ੪ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਅਖਾਏ ਸੁ ਭਲਕੇ ਉਠਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਭਲਕੇ ਪਰਭਾਤੀ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ॥ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਦੋਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥ ਫਿਰਿ ਚੜੈ ਦਿਵਸੁ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵੈ ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥ ਜੋ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਧਿਆਏ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 305}
Now, who is an impostor and a Manmukh:-
ਆਸਾ ॥ ਗਜ ਸਾਢੇ ਤੈ ਤੈ ਧੋਤੀਆ ਤਿਹਰੇ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਤਗ ॥ ਗਲੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਜਪਮਾਲੀਆ ਲੋਟੇ ਹਥਿ ਨਿਬਗ ॥ ਓਇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਬਾਨਾਰਸਿ ਕੇ ਠਗ ॥੧॥ ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਭਾਵਹਿ ॥ ਡਾਲਾ ਸਿਉ ਪੇਡਾ ਗਟਕਾਵਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਾਸਨ ਮਾਂਜਿ ਚਰਾਵਹਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਾਠੀ ਧੋਇ ਜਲਾਵਹਿ ॥ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਖੋਦਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦੁਇ ਚੂਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਣਸ ਖਾਵਹਿ ॥੨॥ ਓਇ ਪਾਪੀ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਅਪਰਸ ਕਹਾਵਹਿ ॥ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਸਗਲ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਡੁਬਾਵਹਿ ॥੩॥ ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਤੈਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੪॥੨॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 476}
————
ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੁਖਾਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਮੁਹ ਭਲੇਰੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਦਯਿ ਗਾਲੇ ॥ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ਸੇ ਕਿਚਰਕੁ ਵੇਰਾਈਅਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 305}
About marriage, in Sikhism, the undersigned wants to say that in Sikhism marriage is called ‘Anand Karaj’ and significant spiritual and religious importance is attached to this act.
It is not merely a physical and legal contract but a sacrament, a union of two souls. The spiritual goal of any Sikh is to merge his or her soul (Atma) with God (Parmatma) and in marriage, the couple vow to help each other towards this goal.
With the example of a worldly marriage, performed on a material plane, between a man and a woman, the Guru Granth Sahib explains in the four ‘ Laavaan’, (Pannas 773-774 of Guru Granth Sahib), as to how one can join (marry or link) with the Higher Consciousness within.
Thus, marriage, in the Sikh Way of life, is supposed to be an unbreakable Spiritual Union or Unity of two minds into one. Unity between wife and husband’s mind (i.e. thinking-Soch) provides constancy, faithfulness, dependability, reliability, loyalty, fidelity, firmness, true love, companionship or friendship, strength to endure, and resistance to disintegration of the entire family. Thus it provides stability for the entire family.
Guru Amar Daas Jee in Raag Soohee highlights this required Unity as follows: –
Thus Anand Karaj is a means to learn helping each other, to attain together a balanced life of self-fulfillment, spiritual upliftment and self-knowledge, leading to a purposeful life.
As per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib, the importance of family life is that both husband and wife first become Gurmukhs themselves and live their lives, as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib, and then try their best to ensure that their children also become Gurmukhs, so that the life of children also becomes successful. In view of this position, there is no place for divorce in Sikhism.
Those who don’t follow the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and follow their mind are called Manmukhs. They remain stuck in material world all their lives, die spiritual death every now and then and finally waste away their valuable life.
The acts of divorce, domestic violence etc. are not as per teachings of Guru Granth Sahib and the same need to be dealt by local laws as, Gurbani has nothing to do with the same.
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
Dear you are absolutely wrong to say that GURU is talking about soul as husband and body as wife. GURU metaphorically uses our consciousness as bride, follower, learner and DIVINE WISDOM, GIAN, SHABAD, BANI as groom. These are metaphoric expressions. Please do not try comparing GURBANI with SANATAN beliefs.
It’s 2023 this thought and traditions are ancient.
only you can bring change instead of complaining about divorced women.
Go out more and try to meet someone who might be your future life partner.
