Waheguruji ka khalsa,
Waheguruji ki fateh.
I have learnt that few of my friends have got change in there names after amrit paan in Takhat Sachkhand Shri Hazur Saheb, Nanded. Is there anything written in rehat maryada to do so. I would like to mention that one of my friend name was already a guru sikh name even though, renamed now.
As best as I know, there is no reference to changing the name as one enters Sikhi as per Bani enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. No spiritual significance is attached to any name.
However, lets look at history. Bhai Lenha Ji was named Guru Angad Sahib by Guru Nanak Sahib after Lehna Ji was named the second Sikh Guru. Guru Gobind Rai was named Gobind Singh after taking Khanday Di Pahul. All other name changes are on or after Vaisakhi 1699.
In Sikh Rehat Maryada, there is definitely a mention of changing the name, if the original name was not as per Sikhi tradition.

s. Thereafter, the Sikh sitting in attendance of the Guru Granth Sahib should take the Hukam. If anyone from amongst those who have received the ambrosial baptism had not earlier been named in accordance with the Sikh naming ceremony, he should renounce his previous name and be given a new name beginning with the first letter of the Hukam now taken.
This appears to have started at the time of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, with changing the last names to “Singh” or “Kaur” to eliminate caste distinctions among the Sikh Community.
At a later time, a Sikh naming ceremony, a ritual, was added to the tradition, perhaps a copied from other faith traditions.
