There is a whole scientific field studying the “chronotypes” in humans.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronotype#
https://youtu.be/XDfNLw1W6FA
In a DNA test I made I came up being more a night than a morning person. It also matched a questionnaire I made: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morningness–eveningness_questionnaire
https://chronotype-self-test.info/index.php?sid=61524&newtest=Y
Apparently, knowing this and acting accordingly can help you become more productive and less depressed throughout the day. However, I find that it contradicts the Gurbani recommendation of waking up and meditate during Amrit Vela, because if I follow the scientific advise I should wake up after sunrise. What do you think? Please comment.
Respected Brother Mauricio Ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In response to your question, the undersigned wants to say that Amrit Vela is important because at that time the distractions are minimal and one can very well concentrate on the meditation.
However, the undersigned is quoting a complete Shabad of Third Guru Person, Guru Amardas Sahib, in Siri Rag, at Panna 35 of Guru Granth Sahib, and its meanings for your contemplation.
As understood by the undersigned, Guru Sahib is teaching us in this Shabad that it is important to remain one, with Akalpurakh and Shabad Guru, who are spiritually embodiment of each other, always i.e. in the state of spiritual equipoise, irrespective of time. With His blessings one can reach this state of mind only after getting rid of vices and becoming a righteous/virtuous person.
Hope it helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother

Dear Brother Kulvinder Singh, I always appreciate your responses. Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
You are always welcome, my brother!
Very good question and observation by Mauricio. Amrit Vela is made of two words. Amrit: It is clear that Amrit is Virtues of the God in Gurbani which gives peace of mind (Blissful State) if we accept, imbibe and live life accordingly. Vela is time. So Amrit Vela is when we prepare ourselves to receive spiritual knowledge and wisdom from the Guru.
There is no specific time to get spiritual knowledge and wisdom from the Guru. Though, early hours of morning are considered to be best time of the day, but it is not possible for those who do shift duties. If Amrit Vela is only early hours then people doing shift duties will never get salvation. God can’t punish people for working which is essential part of life. For people doing shift duty early hours is when they wake up from sleep. Upon arising, they should bathe to clean the body, and then cleanse the mind (Mann) in the pool of nectar of Guru’s teachings (Read, listen them). Otherwise spiritual wisdom can be obtained from Gurbani and from discussions any time of the day, at any place and through any means. The time (Vela) when spiritual wisdom about Virtues of the God (Amrit) is obtained is Amrit Vela. Once we have adopted and assimilated the spiritual knowledge, wisdom and Virtues of the God then they should be in our mind (Mann) every breath and every moment of our life.

Dear Dr. Kala Singh: I appreciate your response. The YouTube video is in a language I cannot understand, unfortunately (punjabi, I suppose). I wonder if your amazon books are available in english or spanish, since I find them to be quite interesting.
The only concern I have left is regarding the morning physical bath that you mentioned: I thought that Gurbani advises only a spiritual bath after waking up. Is there a trustworthy source from which the physical bath comes from?
Thanks Mauricio fir your comments. My books are in English targeted for people like you who does not know Punjabi but wants to learn spiritual message of Sikhi. You are correct Gurbani talks of spiritual bath. But id does of importance of cleaning body as well.

After taking your cleansing bath, remember your God (Get Spiritual Knowledge and Wisdom from Bani), mind (Mann) and body shall be free of disease. Guru is emphasizing importance of cleaning the body with daily bath and then cleaning the mind (Mann) of effect of Maya.
Your wisdom is greatly appreciated, Dr. Kala Singh. You have helped me a lot. Gurbani seems to support physical bath, but it does not provide a specific hour for that, though.
