Respected Nikki Kaur ji,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
The goal of becoming a righteous (ਸਚਿਆਰ) person was laid down by the First Guru Person Guru Nanak Sahib, in the first Pauri of Jap Baani itself, when he said:-
According to Prof. Sahib Singh, (who had done the vyakhya of entire Guru Granth Sahib), the entire Guru Granth Sahib is explanation of these Pangtis.
In view of the above position, to become a righteous person, is the goal to be achieved by a Sikh in his life, since all other qualities flow from this quality.
Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do ask. If you find any deficiencies, please point out the same, for improvement in future.
Regards,
Your Brother
Yes, the truth may be bitter but is often impactful in the longer run.

A quiz : you see a person running in your street hide in a place to protect himself from a communal crowd following him with weapons. The crowd ask you whereabouts of hidden person. Will you speak truth and let that person slaughtered or say no I don’t know?
