Good morning everyone! Sat Sri akal. I am new to this group & thank you for adding me. I do have one question, if I may….what does Sikhism say or SGGS say about vaccinations? Particularly the Covid vaccine, which is an mRNA vaccine. Pls give quotes from gurbani too. Thank you in advance.

Very important question. mRNA is a single stranded RNA molecule made synthetically as per assurances given by manufacturers. Many says it is derived from fetal tissue which according to manufacturers is in correct. Even if it is derived from fetal tissue, meat is not a taboo in Sikhism as per Gurbani
AGGS 1289
Ma 1 || Mas Mas Kar Murakh Jhagarre Giyan Dhian Nehi Janai || Koun Mas Koun Saag Kehavai Kis Meh Paap Samane ||
AGGS 472

Using and consuming eat products are not a taboo in Sikhism. It is up to the individual. So using mRNA technology even if it is made of fetal tissue is not a taboo as far as I take it from Gurbani. I might be wrong. If fetuses are killed with a sole purpose to make vaccination is against humanity and Sikhism as well, but people have been told my manufacturers that they use synthetic mRNA.
Very nice answer. I hope this will clear people’s doubts

This Shabad gives us the guideline that we have to take care of our physical and mental health.
We take many types of medical treatments to keep our body fit. The dispensary of Guru Har Rai Sahib was famous through out the Kingdom of Mugals.
Hence, any vaccine, which may be for Covid or something else, is allowed.
Only we have to see that it well tested and is good for our health.
