I was just reading the news about Panjab’s New Chief Minster.
Everywhere it reads Panjab’s first Dalit chief minster Charanjit Singh Channi.
Guru Nanak dev Ji abolished the caste system so why is this being mentioned?

Thank you for noticing an un-Sikhi practice among Sikh community members.
Your question indicates you already know the answer. And you are right.
There is no caste-based groupings or discrimination is Sikhi.
This is totally a political move, and in politics, every move is aimed at winning the next election.
It is unfortunate that the Sikh community, knowing fully well the message of equality in Gurbani, still tries to use the idea of caste-based divisions of Hindu faith to attract votes.
Please note: most Punjabi, in fact the entire Indian Community, still discriminates, even though not openly, based on the caste system initiated by Hindu faith. Remember that Punjab population is now almost fifty-fifty Hindu, Sikh and a small percentage of Muslim, Christians, Budh, and Jain.
Gurbani message is:
The spirit of the message is that the source of the entire humanity is same and none could be better or worse than the other.
shouldn’t sikh scholars or katha vachaks or religious leaders or sgpc dsgpc or one in Navi Mumbai sikh supreme council of Gurudwars raise this issue.
As I answered above about being NIR VAIR, there is no DALIT IN THE HOUSE OF NANAK. these are labels created by society.
