My parents brought Jal (water) from the Sarovar of the Gurdawara Bangla Sahib, they mix it with water and give me everyday. Wondering if this is ritualistic?

According to Guru Granth Sahib Amrit is Har Ka Naam, which we can obtain with the help of Gurbani only.
The tradition is Khande Ke Pahul, which people have coined these days as Amrit. This is an admission in Guru Ghar. Our commitment to the Guru that we will follow the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib. Just by taking the admission, one cannot claim the degree. For getting any degree one has to work hard and put all sorts of efforts. Everybody claims himself to be true and follower of Guru. Unless we put ourselves to the test. How can we know the reality? Best method of testing is that we study each and every sentence of Guru Granth Sahib and ask ourselves how much we are understanding and following. Everybody claims that he is doing Seva. But rarely anyone knows that real Seva according to Guru Granth Sahib is Shabad Vichar.
People have started their own custom of Choola or taking water from various Gurdwaras. This is no way related with Gurmat. The water can only fulfil the thirst of the body and not the mind.
The simple solution is to recite, listen, understand and follow Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib.
jap – 2
