Guru Nanak Sahib ji was born in a Hindu family. He had a very logical mind and he used to question the rituals that were being practiced by the masses at that time. He was teaching the people of that era the correct way of veneration and the correct way of life. People were convinced with what Guru Sahib was educating them. More and more people started joining his congregation and started following him. He never started a new religion and he was teaching a pious way of life. That was the origin of Sikhism and Sikhism is not a religion but a way of life where the disciple is in the ongoing and lifelong process of learning. Guru Sahib believed in humanity and he belonged to his creator.
