It is good that you asked this question. No Guru used Waheguru as name of God. God according to Guru Nanak is beyond full comprehension by humans; has endless number of virtues; takes on innumerable forms; and can be called by an infinite number of names.

Your Names are so many, and Your Forms are endless. No one can tell how many glorious virtues You have.
The message of Guru Granth Sahib is that it is not the name of God which is important but the Its virtues. One has to obtain those virtues and do good deeds to merge with the God in this life.
Waheguru is used by Bhatts and Bhai Gurdas Ji NOT as name of God BUT Wow Guru how Great you are.
