To protect our self from the vices which are our enemies we have to remember the virtues of the oneness 24 7 Which we call naam simran Outside this body no one is our enemy it is only the vices
Because prayer connects us to the Supreme being and that gives us inner strength to face all the calamities and every day problems
Our enemies are our own negative thoughts and our vices. We should work hard and pray for divine wisdom so that we can have a positive outlook towards life and be successful in our lives.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਇ ॥
The Gurmukh has conquered his own mind, by applying the Touchstone of the Shabad.
ਮਨ ਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਝਗੜਾ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਨਾਲਿ ਸਥ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮੰਝਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
He fights with his mind, he settles with his mind, and he is at peace with his mind.
None of the chanting is going to help in any manner. We have to understand the Hukam of Akal Purkh and learn the way of life with the help of Gurbani written in Guru Granth Sahib. Then only we can reduce the number of our enemies and have a comfortable sleep.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਲਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਲਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਖ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੌਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ। ਜੇ ਕਰ ਜੀਵ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਸਮ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੇ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰੰਤੂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਕਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
The person, who does not understand the Hukam of Akal Purakh, remains away from the facts of life. Anxiety remains in his mind, so he cannot sleep peacefully. He never gets peace of mind. If a person abides the Will of her Husband Akal Purakh, then he/she is glorified in the Court of Akal Purakh. But, O Nanak! A person understands about obeying Hukam only if Akal Purakh bestows His Grace. One can understand about the facts of life only with the grace and guidance of the Shabad Guru and can get himself absorbed in the ever abiding Akal Purakh.
ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਰੋਵੈ ॥ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਧੋਖਾ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਸੋਵੈ ॥ ਜੇ ਧਨ ਖਸਮੈ ਚਲੈ ਰਜਾਈ ॥ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਮੀ ਇਹ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ (੮੫)
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾਉਂਣ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਦੀ ਨੀਦ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਤਨਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ
One can have a sound sleep and get rid of mental stresses by having love with Akal Purakh. Hence, we have to understand the Hukam of Akal Purakh with the help of Shabad Guru and live according to the Will of Akal Purakh.

ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਸੀਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਤੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਅਜਾਈ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The person who remains intoxicated with the love of Maya leads his life with anxiety and unhappiness. Without coming to the Guru’s sanctuary, he does not get peace of mind, and his life passes in a misery. Akal Purakh cannot be found without the Shabad Guru and a person who is deprived of the Shabad Guru loses his human birth in vain.
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਫੇਰੁ ਪਇਆ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਦੁਖੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥ (੩੧,੩੨)
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਆ ਕੇ ਵੱਸ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ।
The human being, within whom the Bani about the qualities of Akal Purakh got settled and developed, got rid of all his worries.
ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਈ ॥ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਚਿੰਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥ (੬੨੭-੬੨੮)
