Guru Granth Sahib Ji
Guru गुरु in Sanskrit those days and even today means very important or heavy as against लघू ie least important or small in size or weight.
Granth ग्रंथ means a thick book containing some particular specific knowledge.
After rewriting afresh, our Tenth Master told us that this is the more revered and important Granth than the many other scriptures or the holy books in circulation at that period.
Guru Granth Sahib is the commonly known name of our holy scripture.
Soon there will be another so called Granth attributed to someone else which may also be named Guru Granth over a period of time.
Therefore, it is felt that we should exclusively call it Gurbani Granth Sahib, respectfully.
