with the knowledge blessed by guru Sahib ji,
kara is guru ki nishani, it is like a hath kari ( hand cuffs ) linked to guru that if I do something wrong i remember these hands are not mine anymore. These hands belongs to guru now and we should always remember this. you can take it as a reminder.
other significance is that it is kind of a shastra which will help you in battle in many ways, also helps you to save your hands from being chopped of.
and kara should be of sarab loh kyuki vo toot nai sakda te majbut hunda aa.
baki if it is allergic to your hands you can wear steel one.
