The literal meaning of Akal Takht is “Throne of the Timeless One”..
supreme court of sikh sangat
Neeraj ji, there is no supreme court of Sikh Sangat.
veer jii higher authority of Sikh sangat is akal thakat as per hukam of 6 th guru sahiban
Neeraj ji, Akal Takhat (Throne of the Timeless one) came into being as a sign of Sikh Sovereignty and not as a court to hear worldly matters and to punish Sikhs for any kind of lapses on their part. For taking action on worldly matters, the law of the land has to take its course.
As regards matters relating to Rehat Maryada, the action has to be taken, as prescribed there, and not beyond that. There is no provision for misuse of Akal Takhat for political purposes, which is happening presently.
Akal Takht is the highest authority for the Sikhs. Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji gave a new direction to Sikhism by introducing the concept of politics in the form of Akal Takht Sahib where all important matters and issues concerning Sikhism and Sikh people were discussed and actions were executed under the able leadership of Guru Sahib.
