The common theme in the 31 Raags is divided into 5 parts:
1. Shabad: Guru Nanak Sahib Ji, Guru Angad Sahib Ji (Salok). Guru Amardas Sahib Ji, Guru Ramdas Sahib Ji, Guru Arjan Sahib Ji, Guru Teg Bahadar Sahib Ji. In this series the Shabad comes in the raags.
2. Ashtpadian
3) Chhant
4) Vaar
5) Bhagatan di Bani
The entire constitution of SGGS Ji should be known to each and every person. This is just the common theme/constitution of the 31 Raags.
